A series of artworks for a Cactus Magazine issue dedicated to still-lifes.
For this project I was focusing on extreme examples of object-subject relation, where the object acquires a more active role, the power balance shifts and the item starts dominating the person.
In my research I discovered such a phenomena as Objectum Sexuality, where people fall in love with very specific objects, commit to them, and some even marry them. There are women that marry bridges and rollercoaster rides, and men that fall in love with barbie dolls and steam train engines. In this project I focused on 5 specific cases that I’ve found during my research.
The result is my attempts to see those artifacts through OS people eyes, giving them life-like features and giving them the space where they are placed into emotionally charged, romantic environments. Becoming quite literally, the objects of desire.
